Vegas Adventure Of Megan & Ewan: from the Strip to the Mojave Desert

I’m a Las Vegas elopement photographer, and I’ve seen plenty of couples do the “Vegas thing,” but Ewan and Megan? They didn’t just do it; they owned it. Their day was a masterclass in how to blend high-fashion editorial vibes with the raw, quiet beauty of the Mojave.

We started where every great Vegas story begins: right in the middle of the chaos.

Most people think of the Strip as just neon and tourists, but if you know where to look, it’s a goldmine for editorial shots. We hit up a parking garage where I parked my car, which, trust me, is the secret weapon of every Vegas wedding. You get those massive architectural views of the Horseshoe and the Bellagio without having to elbow a stranger out of your shot.

Megan’s look was an absolute moment. That embellished mini-dress paired with the long scarf-veil? It’s modern, it’s chic, and honestly it’s super practical for running around a city. Ewan brought the heat with a black velvet tuxedo that made him look like he stepped off a 1960s film set.

That Iconic Sign

Yeah, we did the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. Is it a bit touristy? Sure. Is it absolutely essential? 100%. There’s a specific kind of magic in having a crowd of strangers cheer for you while you’re kissing in front of that neon landmark. It’s cheesy in a good way, the way you would want to remember.

Analog Love (The Cameras)

One of my favorite things about this shoot was that Ewan and Megan are creators and creatives themselves. Ewan is a talented portrait and concert photographer – https://ewanogden.com/. They weren’t posing or performing for the cameras; they were documenting their own love story in real-time.

We brought along some serious heavy hitters:

• The “Goose”: Ewan was rocking a Polaroid 600SE. If you know, you know. It’s a beast of a vintage camera that produces these dreamy, tactile instant photos. I even had the privilege of taking one or two frames with it myself.
• The Bronica: I had my Zenza Bronica medium format camera from 1960s, and Ewan and I played with it, but sadly only three shots from a roll were somewhat usable. There was a bad light leak that destroyed most of the 12 frames.

Watching Ewan take photos of Megan between setups was so incredibly human. In a world of digital perfection, there’s something so grounded about the click-whirr of a Polaroid. As your elopement photographer, my job is to capture the big moments, but these little “meta” moments of you two just being yourselves? Those are the ones you’ll keep on your nightstand.

Chasing the Light into the Mojave

Once we had our fill of the city’s grit, we drove thirty minutes out into the desert. From the loud and always crowded sidewalks of the Strip to the absolute, ringing silence of the desert.

The Mojave at golden hour is basically a cheat code for beautiful photos. We found a spot filled with Joshua trees and rugged mountains where Ewan and Megan could just be.

Pro Tip for your Desert Elopement: Wear shoes you can walk in a desert. Megan’s white pumps were killer for the city, but once we hit the sand, it was all about that adventurous spirit and not walking too far.

The Champagne Spray

We ended the day the only way you should end a Vegas elopement: by spraying a bottle of bubbles into the desert air. It’s messy, it’s loud, and the candid photos of Megan’s pure, unadulterated laugh are some of my favorites from the entire session.
